Welcome to the "The Foreign Mom" Blog by Elisabeth Figert.
I’m Elisabeth Figert and the face behind “The Foreign Mom” Blog.
I’m a stay-at-home mom to 2 girls and a Chesapeake Bay Retriever.
Although I am not a formally trained teacher (I focused on child development and parenting during my psychology studies), I am a creative stay-at-home mom who wants to ensure that my toddler and preschooler learn at home to be prepared for preschool and later Kindergarten. You will find that I’m sneaking in a lot of learning opportunities into our daily play.
This helps my kids to stay motivated while learning at home.
Why The Foreign Mom Blog by Elisabeth Figert?
Every day we spend an hour doing fun projects and my daughter’s and I would love to share them with you and your children.
Some of these activities are easy to set up activities, while others are bilingual activities with a focus on language development.
These activities are easy to set up and mostly mess-free. You won’t need a lot of supplies for my activities either because I want to make your life easier and not harder. 🙂
Experiences as a stay/work-at-home mom
Also, I want to share my experiences as a stay-at-home mom of two girls with you. I have learned so much in the last 4 1/2 years of my life as a mother.
Being a new mom can be overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to to be if I can help you to prepare for it.
Raising my daughter's bilingual
Let me be your support system through Motherhood
I created “The Foreign Mom” Blog to share my experience/knowledge with you and to create a support system for foreign mothers.
I’m originally from Germany.
My husband and I are now living in the US where we are raising our children. I’m a mom to two beautiful girls, Charlotte (4yrs) and Penelope (2 yrs).
I’ve been a stay/work-at-home mom since Charlotte was born.
I always loved working with children and teaching them everything they need to know. Which I got plenty of practice with during my Au Pair years and my time as a nanny.
After my years as a childcare provider I finished university with a BS in Psychology and a minor in Art. During my studies, I focused on child development and parenting.
During my last year of college I started a Caseworker position working with foreigners. My focus was on families and how to improve their lives.
My educational background and experiences have helped me to create my fun and engaging activities for children. And I can’t wait to share them with you and your children.
